A warm welcome to Kintbury Tennis Club
The Government have confirmed lockdown will end on 2nd December and the country will go into a Tier System. West Berkshire is in Tier 2. I can hear you asking what does this mean for me?
Kintbury Tennis Club welcomes players of every standard. Whether you're just beginning or already playing at a
high level, we have team play, club sessions and coaching to suit you.
In short, the courts will be open for business from 0001 hours on Wednesday 2nd December, there will be a club session on Wednesday night and then again on the Saturday from 11am.
There will be a hand sanitiser dispenser inside the clubhouse for those that have access, please try and use this if you can. There will also be QR codes for checking in via the Covid-19 App on your smart phone.
If you wish to keep updated with the LTA, please visit LTA.ORG.UK and follow the link to Covid-19 latest news.
We've got members from all over West Berkshire, not just in Kintbury. Members come from Hungerford, Newbury, Chilton Foliat, Inkpen, Hamstead Marshall, and even from outside the County to be part of our lovely club. We've got three fantastic tennis courts, all exceeding the specifications set by the LTA, and all with County standard floodlights, attesting to the fact that we aim to deliver the best possible facility to our members.
As a member of the club and if you are also a member of BTM (which is FREE to join), you qualify for entry into our Wimbledon ballot. The club is allocated roughly ten pairs every year, that members can win the right to purchase, if they are successful in the ballot. Several of our members have seen matches on Centre court and on finals day. The ballot normally takes place, on or near our Open Day in April. Take a look at our Wimbledon page, to see the tickets we got this year.
We actively encourage beginners to get started and to get better, as well as just to have fun
playing with their friends and family. Our regular Wednesday club sessions are open to everyone, and juniors
have a reserved time from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Wednesdays, with adults having priority after 6.30pm. We reserve
one court for absolute beginners, so there's never any reason to feel you're not good enough to join in. We also have a regular Saturday morning/afternoon club session, and several other group sessions that are organised by our coach. You can see our weekly calendar here.
Outside of club sessions, there are plenty of times when the courts are free for your use. To see if the courts are
free today, to book a court, and to contact other members to play against, you can
login to our member-only pages.
We cater for strong players too. We've got three men's teams, one ladies' team and three mixed teams, and our 'A' teams regularly come out on top of the league, and we always do our best in whichever division we play. We also do our best to socialise and provide warm hospitality for our opponents once the game is over.
If you're just starting out then our coach is available to help you to improve. However, if your sole intention is to have fun playing with your kids there's plenty of court time at the weekend when you can turn up and play.
We also run several social events through the year, including family tennis days and quiz nights. And if you join before our Open Day at the start of the season, British Tennis Members are automatically entered into the draw for the chance to get some tickets at Wimbledon. So there's plenty of reasons to get out those rackets and join us. If you click this link, you can download our membership forms and get contact details for our secretary to answer any questions you might have.
As a club, we are also members of the LTA, and our local Newbury & District LTA, so you can be sure we keep up to date with rule changes and provide opportunities for match play.
